301Heavy Airlift Group Nigerian Airforce on Thursday at the Group briefing room decorated the newly promoted senior non Commission Officers (SNCO) with new ranks.
Recently, The chief of Air staff, Air Marshal Saqid Abubakar approved promotion of senior non Commission Officers which 301 HAG is one of the beneficiaries.
Speaking at the colorful event, the Commander 301 Heavy Airlift Group, Air Commodore Abubakar Abdullahi thanked the( CAS) for including the unit in the promotion exercise, he urged those promoted to maintain high standard of discipline and be focus, for hard work pays, he said "promotion and awards comes with added responsibilities".
The Commander noted that, due to implementation of new terms and condition of service in the Armed Forces , the promotion could not affect most of those that were due, he revealed that, promotion of (SNCO) is now three years instead of four that was formally obtainable , he disclosed that, over five hundred senior non Commission Officers ( SNCO) were due for promotion this year but promotion vacancy could only accommodate twenty senior non Commission Officers (SNCO) The Occasion was also used for the decoration of Senior Officers, Airmen, Airwomen of the units who were awarded with Service Medal.
First Service Star medal(FSS) is awarded only to Officers and men of the armed forces who must have distinguished themselves and spent twelve meritoriously years in the service without any blame, Distinguish Service Star, (DSS) is awarded to Officers who must have spent 24 years in the service without any blame. This medal (DSS) was recently awarded to Commander 301HAG by The Chief of Air Staff (CAS)
Medal is being celebrated in the military because is only given to those who must have served meritoriously in the Armed Forces without any dent in their records.
In his vote of thanks after the decoration, Master Warrant Officer Adeola kareem appealed to the Commander 301 HAG to convey their sincere gratitude to ( CAS) for promoting them for such a time as this, he said "hard work pays, every one should put in their best in what ever task is given to them", he appreciated the Commander and personnel of the unit for supporting him in his duties as Group Sergeant Major.
