301 HAG EMERGES WINNER AT 2018 MOBILITY COMMAND R&D COMPETITION.
Mobility Command Nigerian Airforce recently held Research and Development competition.
Mobility Command Nigerian Airforce, in its efforts to contribute effectively towards technological advancement and operational effectiveness in the (NAF), also in line with the Chief Of Air Staff vision, Mobility Command held research and Development competition.

Speaking at the occasion at 301 Heavy Airlift Group Ikeja, Lagos, the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Saqid Abubakar (CAS) who was represented by the chief of Standard and Evaluation, Headquarters Nigerian Airforce, Air Vice Marshal John Baba, in his remarks at the event said, this year R&D competition was geared towards providing solutions to Nigerian Airforce technical challenges, he disclosed that, the ( CAS) has always been a strong advocate and support of research and Development, he revealed that, acquisition of equipments, platforms and importation of aircraft spares and armament has been hampered by political and export restrictions imposed upon by foreign vendors, this has made the Chief of Air Staff to view research and Development as priority.
He stated that, supporting research and Development efforts would lead to self -sufficiency in aircraft maintenance, armament and communication systems among others.
The Guest of honour noted that, the objectives of the competition is for exchange of ideas and as well as peer review to improve projects. He added that, these projects when improve upon would create revenue and add value to national economic development.
Air Vice Marshal John baba commended Mobility command for creating enabling environment for such an achievements and charged the participating units to put in their best.






Six units under command participated in this year research and Development competition with 341 Communication Group, who Presented A Web Base integrated Signal message management system, universal Direct Current power Tester was presented by 307 Executive Airlift Group ( EAG) while , Construction of Ramp Support, propeller pushing stick and fabrication of Bellow for control column Base was presented by 301 Heavy Airlift Group , 351 Base services Group, Presented Moveable Observation Post, Tomatoes production using Hydroponics purpose was done by 303 Medium Airlift Group (MAG) .

Earlier, the Air officer Commanding Mobility command Air Vice Marshal Napoleon Bali in his welcome address, said research and Development in Nigerian Airforce is crucial and can't be over emphasis, for it is a component of innovation and creativity which are key factors for technical development and improvement.
He noted that, Nigerian Airforce places high premium on research and Development which has brought about technological advancement in the NAF and entire nation.
The AOC said"as we all aware the NAF is playing key roles in various operations in the country at present, to enhance own operational effectiveness, we must look inward to our indigenous technologies. This is even more apt as the service looks forward to becoming self -reliant in training of its personnel and maintenance of its platform".
The theme for this year Mobility command Research and Development competition is "Developing indigenous Technology and computer Oriented for Enhanced Operational Effectiveness ".At the end of the competition the projects were assessed base on its relevancy to operational effectiveness which 301 HAG emerged as over all winner.

second position was won by 307 Executive Airlift Group (EAG) and third position was won by 341 Communication Group.
Present at the Occasion were senior Air force Officers, Officers from Headquarters Nigerian Airforce, Commanders of participating units, Officers, Airmen, Airwomen of various units.
